Our history
Once upon a tine, we had a dream: Our families would merge together; our children
lovingly playing along side each other on our snowy white beach. Then we woke up. Merging two families was not as easy as
we thought and besides, our beach was covered in weeds.
Plan B….work with what you’ve got.
Originally planning to tear down the old cabin and rebuild on the footprint,
we gave the kids spray paint cans and let them decorate the hideous, yellow, asphalt siding. It was great fun for the kids.
Afterwards, we noticed ‘For sale’ signs going up around the neighborhood. We assured those bold enough to approach
us, that the ‘hippie shack’ look was only temporary; a collective sigh could be heard from around the lake.
Once we took ownership, we found the old place to have its’ own kind
of charm and we began to embrace that charm. After all, that’s what Nathan and I were doing with our lives….restoring,
renewing and reviving the old us into a new life together.
We can’t erase history. Like us, our cabin came with a history that we
wanted to preserve and yet build on its’ future. Thus, began our quest, our new dream. The desire to re-create the cabin
with history; with walls that can talk and windows that have seen a beautiful view.
We invite you to join us on this quest. Share with us your stories of rebuilding,
barter or trade your treasures or just have fun as we flounder through the adventure of our project.
