We have acquired a 1940's style cabin on a
small lake, and are going to attempt to restore/rebuild it into a year round home, using period recycled and salvaged materials. Our
theory is that by using recycled and salvaged materials we are doing our part in "going green" as no new resources have been
used, Yet, we want to accomplish this as tastefully as possible. The exception to using only items from the turn
of the century to about 1950, will be items like windows, wiring, and possibly alternative energy products.
However we still would be willing to use newer salvaged items for this if they are energy efficient, again thinking of
the the global impact.
Salvaging, Recycling, and Bartering will be the
major way we do this project. We feel the experiance of this should be like a giant treasure hunt and lots of fun.
We invite you to share our experiences, thus the creation of this web site.
COME ALONG FOR THE FUN OF IT OR TO DO SOME TRADING.
On this site, we will share our experiences on gathering
information, materials, etc... we'll give a bit of history on the subject itself, as well as some background on how we
got involved in it. We might also include some instructions on how to do some of the stuff, as well as any tips or tricks
we've acquired through the process. And, of course, lots of pictures of the results.
So flip through the pages, lets have some fun.
